THE LEGEND RESPONDS: Social media announced Peter Minshall's 'death' on Carnival Tuesday, when he was very much alive. But the outpouring of love and anguish allowed Minshall an opportunity to see exactly what people thought of his life and work. His has since responded, in a way only Peter Minshall could.

Devon Cumberbatch “I would love for the instrument to be as mainstream as the piano, guitar or violin. It may have a ways to go, being a fairly young creation, but I believe pan can progress, develop and infiltrate music of all cultures. I would love to see it as an instrument for all peoples, and universally accepted. However, it wasn't until around 14 when I had my first real encounter with the steelpan, satisfying my curiosity by exploring a steelpan my sister had brought home for her to practice on.
