Global - ....I first met Ralph in Trinidad on Carnival Tuesday in the late 90’s while he was jumping with Phase II, the band in which I was playing (even though he was a die-hard Desperadoes fan). He hopped up on the float and started playing congas, grooving hard. We next met in November 2005 when I was playing in Stamford, Connecticut with Roberta Flack.

....July 4th at Ralph’s was something to look forward to every year. Seeing the family grow, the musicians who’d show up, swimming in the pool, the food, the music, basketball with Anthony and Teebs, they all added to the good times.

....One thing is certain……Heaven just got a LOT funkier. I’m sure he’s up there now making heavenly sounds out of two spoons, chilling out in a white t-shirt, shorts, a baseball cap and of course his crocs (with socks) making the angels jam on the groove.

  Happy Birthday to Edwin Ayoung  March 19th When Steel Talks extends Birthday Greetings to composer and performing artist “Crazy” - Edwin Ayoung  Edwin Ayoung or “Crazy” - born Edwin Ayoung in 1944, on Maraval Road in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad of a Venezuelan mother and Trinidadian father of Chinese descent, was - in his youth - as skilled and competitive in his country’s national pastime of cricket, as he has been now for years as a world-travelled musician, performing artist and composer. Though dubbed “The Loveable Lunatic of Soca,” Ayoung has time and again not been given his due in his native land, yet remains one of the most commercially successful artists on the international soca scene. An experimentalist, he pioneered the unique musical genre known as Parang Soca and played a leading role in promoting Chutney Soca. Ralph Davis Another episode occurred when he played for the queen of England on her visit to Trinidad and Tobago at the then-Governor-General’s house. He remembers her standing right over his pan. But what she did not know, was that the shoes he was wearing, had no soles... For he could not afford shoes. So the illusion was there, just the outer part of the shoe, while his feet had already been cut from sharp stones and bottles on his way to play for her Majesty.
