Sincere condolences to the  Pan Lara, P an Evolution, Pan Masters and   Skiffle family, and the pan fraternity on the whole on the passing of  Devon Cumberbatch . Devon Cumberbatch “I would love for the instrument to be as mainstream as the piano, guitar or violin. It may have a ways to go, being a fairly young creation, but I believe pan can progress, develop and infiltrate music of all cultures. I would love to see it as an instrument for all peoples, and universally accepted. Panman Dane Gulston calls for Taste of Panorama boycott

 Newsday SOUR NOTE: Dane Gulston who is calling on fellow panmen to boycott the Taste of Panorama event Gulston, along with Robert Hernandez, Gerard Mendez and Earl Morris, said the event should not be held as Pan Trinbago is not constitutionally in right standing. The men said elections were due in October last year and to date there has been no mention of that happening soon and as such, the current executive is operating illegally and any event supported by Pan Trinbago should not be supported by panmen. On Monday NCC chair Winston Peters said an estimated $35 million will be allocated to produce a semblance of Carnival with events for vaccinated only. This announcement was bitter-sweet with some accepting whatever aspect of the culture they can get after last year’s cancellation and others finding the decision lacking the taste of Carnival. James Clarkson   April 21st When Steel Talks extends Birthday Greetings to panist James Clarkson James Clarkson was born in Grenada on 21 April 1943 and has had a distinguished lifelong career in music with early exposure at the age of 12. He later joined the band of the Royal Grenada Police Force, appeared on stage with his father’s band, and by 17 was a member of the band of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force as lead arranger and first trumpet player. By 23 years of age, he was the Director of Music of the band of the Royal Grenada Police Force, and soon became the arranger for the very successful Republic Bank Angel Harps Steel Orchestra , a post he still holds today. The Officers and Ranks of the Royal, Grenada Police Force (R.G.P.F.) take this opportunity to thank Commissioner James Clarkson OBE, QPM, Lmus, F.
