“I’m Koruri Hanato, a member of PANPLE steelband in Japan. My favorite things are arranging pan music, playing double second, and playing in Panorama in Trinidad. I have been playing in Panorama... since 2004, every year I’m coming to play from the other side of the earth :-)

Japan - She is a panist, arranger and leader of Panple Steel Orchestra in Japan. And she is a member of the famed Trinidad All Stars. In an exclusive interview, Koruri shares her immeasurable joy and love of Panorama, the steelpan instrument, its music and culture on When Steel Talks.

  Happy Birthday to Edwin Ayoung  March 19th When Steel Talks extends Birthday Greetings to composer and performing artist “Crazy” - Edwin Ayoung  Edwin Ayoung or “Crazy” - born Edwin Ayoung in 1944, on Maraval Road in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad of a Venezuelan mother and Trinidadian father of Chinese descent, was - in his youth - as skilled and competitive in his country’s national pastime of cricket, as he has been now for years as a world-travelled musician, performing artist and composer. Though dubbed “The Loveable Lunatic of Soca,” Ayoung has time and again not been given his due in his native land, yet remains one of the most commercially successful artists on the international soca scene. An experimentalist, he pioneered the unique musical genre known as Parang Soca and played a leading role in promoting Chutney Soca. Crazy would go on to sing several monster smashes in parang soca, including Cold Sweat, Muchacha and Homemade Wine. More on Crazy Related content...

Janine Charles-Farray "Singing and performing is side of my personality and my life that I have left in its natural state-- spontaneous, fun and unpredictable." Singing 'for fun' is a philosophy that Janine Charles-Farray has stuck to religiously for the last 20 years of her life. A long time lover of the 'soulful classics,' Janine Charles-Farray began singing in Primary school under the baton of Mrs. Charles of the St. Finbar's Girls RC School. Her love of singing grew during this period through experimentation with the popular music of the day such as R&B and Pop, as well as the classics of vintage ballads and religious music taught by her primary school music teacher.
